They say your nails says a lot about you. If that’s the case, then it’s a pretty good excuse to get your nails done at the salon every week just to convey beauty and art. However, getting a $50 nail art design weekly is not really practical. Luckily, thanks to the creative and generous people on the internet, you can now DIY your nail art at home. The following are some of the most resourceful, not to mention cute, nail hacks you definitely should try.
1.) Matte Nail Polish
Matte is super trendy these days – matte lipstick, matte eyeshadow and now, matte nail polish. Matte looks sophisticated and almost natural on anyone. Unfortunately, a bottle of matte nail polish is expensive. So, people have come up with ways to duplicate matte nail polish for less:
You will need:Top coat, eye shadow (any color)
How to do it:
Mix top coat and eyeshadow in a plastic cup or plate.
Make sure that the color has evenly spread.
Apply on nails and wait for it to dry.
2.) Blue Velvet Nails
Another trend these days is velvet. This might look a bit difficult to achieve, especially without the help of a professional nail artist, but in reality, it’s quite straightforward.
You will need:Blue nail polish (or any color you want), soft make-up brush, blue flocking powder (must match the color of your nail polish), paper towel.
How to do it:
Apply first coat of nail polish and wait for it to dry.
Apply a second coat of nail polish and immediately sprinkle blue flocking powder.
Gently pat flocking powder in place using your finger.
Swish away excess flocking powder, using the soft make-up brush.
Wait for it to dry.
3.) Polka Dot Nails
This is probably the easiest nail art design to do. Here we show you two ways to come up with polka dot nail art designs on your own.
3.1) Polka dots using band aid:
You will need: Two different nail polish colors, band aid
How to do it:
Apply two coats of your main nail polish color. Let it dry.
Put in place the dotted part of a band aid over your nails
Apply second nail polish color over the band aid. You can dab them on the holes alone, to save nail polish.
Remove band aid and leave it dry. Apply top coat.
3.2) Polka dots using bobby pins:
You will need:Two different nail polish colors, bobby pins
How to do it:
Apply two coats of your main nail polish color. Let it dry.
Dip the rounded tip of a bobby pin into your second nail polish color. Dot the color on your nails.
Apply the dots evenly on nails. Leave it dry. Apply top coat.
