Skin Care Do’s And Don’ts For Women Over 25

It’s no doubt that women undergo lots of changes when they hit their mid-20s. It’s an exciting time, yes but it’s also a time when different physical changes occur and it takes a toll on many. Among these changes is the signs of aging starting to appear on skin. During our younger years, we can get by with just soap and water. However, women over 25 years old need a little extra tender loving. Here are some skincare tips to follow once you reach you mid-20s.

  1. Be Picky About your Skin Exfoliant

Exfoliant is one of the secrets to glowing skin. It removes dead skin cells that have clogged up or built up on the skin surface. On top of that, exfoliant also helps in the skin’s collagen production, which keeps the skin young and supple.

When you reach the age of 25, choosing the right kind of exfoliant becomes even more important. Using bead-based exfoliants may cause irritation and may even discourage collagen production. At times, this could be unnoticeable or may only manifest minimally until it’s too late – when fine lines have already developed due to the lack of skin collagen.

The best exfoliant for women over 25 are those that are gentler and have less abrasive elements. On top of that, oily and acne-prone skin need salicylic acid regularly. Meanwhile, dry skin goes well with glycolic acid-based products.

  1. Use SPF Products

All that tanning bed sessions you’ve done in your teens will take a toll on your skin now that you’ve reached the age of 25. While it may be too late to get rid of the sun spots and other damage that it has done, it is possible to prevent further harm that the sun can cause. Regularly wearing a sun screen or moisturizer that contains SPF will can help prevent new spots from developing. There are also concealers, foundations and other make-up products that contain SPF for further protection from the sun.

  1. Avoid Cleansers With Surfactant

Using a cleanser regularly prevents acne break outs and other skin blemishs. However, most cleansers these days contain surfactant, a harmful cleansing agent that may destroy the protective barriers in the epidermis. So how to go about this?

The answer is to choose a cleanser that is gentle and fragrance-free (because products with fragrance usually contain chemicals that may irritate skin). If you have dry skin, you may also want to add natural oils and serums in to your regular skincare routine. Serums encourage skin collagen production, especially those that are made with Vitamin C. It also helps lock in the skin’s natural moisture, so skin becomes smooth and supple.

The signs of aging start to become prominent during your late 20s. However, with a regular and well-planned skincare routine, you may be able to delay it for many years. Choose your skin products carefully and develop a healthy lifestyle – your skin will thank you for it!
